For the past two days, I've been on a skateboarding/scootering journey with my teenager and his friend. We visited seven skateparks on the island. Who would have thought there would be so many skateparks in communities up and down Vancouver island? Some were new, like Topaz skatepark - and extremely busy. Others, sat empty beside the ocean such as the one in Crofton. On the sidelines, I noticed the joy of the glide, the challenge of the jump, and the continuous drive to try new tricks. I loved seeing folks young and middle aged give it their all. A shout out to those who advocate for, design, and maintain skate parks!
