REiL Learning understands the impact of out of school programs and how learning approaches which focus on flexibility, rapport, and fun provide meaningful spaces for children and youth to not only participate, but to be seen, heard, and valued for who they are. Through Katy's experience as the Community Engagement Liaison and part of the Design team working as the bridge between school districts and community programs and the Ministry on the BC After School Sport and Arts Initiative (ASSAI), she saw the creative, dynamic approach to extending the reach and engaging more children and youth in after-school programs. She was so inspired that she centered her Master's project on what schools can learn from out of school programs.
